Legendary American college football coach, Eddie Robinson once said,
“Coaching is a profession of love. You can’t coach people unless you love them.”
We forget that sometimes.
We identify a weakness or poor outcome and put our coaching hat on to get a different result.
We look at a person and wonder how we can coach them to do better.
But coaching is a profession of love.
A true coach is doing what she does because she wants the best for her people.
A true coach wants his people to shine and thrive.
A true coach identifies and works hard to bring out the greatness in others.
A true coach genuinely cares and the team knows that they are genuinely valued.
A true coach knows her team’s family and the names of their children and fur babies.
The results come after all of the above.
A true coach knows that.
